"Get Shays out, get Himes in there!"

by: ctblogger

There he goes again...

Once again, Chris Shays embarrasses the state of Connecticut with one of the most embarrassing tirades to date. Our congressman from the fourth district took grandstanding to a whole new level with his browbeating of Roger Clemens trainer Brian McNamee during today's House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on steroids in baseball.

MadDogAfter hearing Shays refer to McNamee as a "drug dealer" and spewing out what can only be described as complete nonsense, WFAN's sports radio personality (and former Shays supporter) Chris "Mad Dog" Russo saw the light.

Living up to his famous nickname, Russo took Shays to the woodshed and became Jim Himes' biggest supporter...all in the classic Mad Dog fashion that's made Russo famous.

Get your popcorn ready folks...if you haven't seen Russo do his thing before, then you're in for a treat.

Now, this is what I call "must-see" TV!

You heard what the Mad Dog said, so what are you waiting for? Click here and help get Shays out and Himes in Congress!

HIMES! HIMES!

An entire montage of Russo, co-host Mike Francesa and callers to the show blasting Shays are below the fold!

ctblogger :: "Get Shays out, get Himes in there!"
Francesa and Russo gives the play by play on Shays' rant.

The callers give their take on Shays.

Himes' bio is read on the air.

are sports voters a large demographic?

Any show OTHER than a politics show... (4.00 / 3)
... or any kind of Blog other than a political Blog, for that matter, is the best place for people to truly set the tone of a race. This is a great endorsement for Himes. For the reason that these two guys are not viewed as partisan political hacks.

What fun!  Great job getting the video online.  I like that Russo spelled out Jim's name, just so there's no mistake.  You can't BUY this kind of advertising!

AAAAaaaaannnnnnnd good afternoon, everybody! How are YOU today? (4.00 / 2)
This is fanatastic news. Way back in the days before the internets I can remember driving around to get good reception on WFAN in northern Connecticut just to hear sports talk.

From the NY Daily News 4/07: "For nearly 20 years, Francesa and Russo have either been No.1 or No.2 in the market in terms of ratings, among men 25-54, the key demographic."

From Wikipedia: "During the day, WFAN's groundwave signal can be heard faintly as far south as Washington, DC and as far north as the I-90 corridor (the New York State Thruway and Massachusetts Turnpike), about 150 miles north of New York City. WFAN can also allegedly be heard clearly on the northern beaches of North Carolina's Outer Banks during the day. Signal strength varies depending on factors such as weather and elevation. Still, a good car radio can pick up WFAN cleanly in most of eastern Pennsylvania and throughout Connecticut"

This is going to kill Shays. White males 25-54 aren't a big demographic in a winning Republican coalition, right? OH WAIT...it's THE HEART OF HIS BASE!!!!

Hehehhehehee the clip was GREAT!!! (0.00 / 0)
It was so nice I had to play it twice! :D
Thank you for sharing!  Shall I bring my pompoms
so I can scream out H-I-M-E-S? ;)

Mike and Chris are right... (4.00 / 5)
Mike and the Mad Dog are absolutely right for slamming Shays. Here's why ...

Shays, as usual, saved his most ferocious attacks for a guy who doesn't deserve it. McNamee, steroid peddler or not, was required by law to testify for the Mitchell Report and at these hearings, and he did. Shays called him a drug dealer, humiliated him, etc., for doing what he was required by law to do: testify.

Shays pulled the same bullying act with the NASA scientist who testified on global warming, and to the widows of the Blackwater employees killed in Falluja. Shays bullied them and belittled them. But when it came to questioning Blackwater's CEO Erik Prince -- after Blackwater killed 17 Iraqi civilians -- or Don Rumsfeld, or Lurita Doan of the GSA, or Condi Rice, Shays wimped out.

Shays is completely useless at these oversight hearings.

The hearings themselves were a waste of time. Two obvious problems:

1. The Mitchell Report accused a lot of players of steroid use, including Roger Clemens, based on hearsay, providing no concrete evidence whatsoever.

2. The hearings could not in any way prove or disprove Clemens' guilt or innocence.

The one guy who got the proceedings right was Congressman Chris Murphy, who questioned the Mitchell Report investigator for doing a sloppy job, and questioned Clemens on how baseball's players union could learn from all this.   Nice job, Chris Murphy.

"Take me out to the ballgame", by Chris Shays (4.00 / 3)

Here's something from the Oversight Hearings last month I put together.

You have to wonder… (4.00 / 2)
If all these antics are solely for the benefit of Shays trying to show his bona-fides to his future K Street lobbying firm employers.

Or to put it another way, he's just trying to be a team player...

Unfortunately, he just doesn't play well with others.

"It was close the last time...a woman...Feinstein I think."

You can't say Mad Dog is too partisan.
