Tuesday afternoon open thread

The news.
  • If your a medical professional who has some free time tomorrow, PLEASE volunteer at the free health care clinic in Hartford tomorrow.

  • Attorney General Richard Blumenthal ruled on Susan Bysiewicz's request...and it's not good.
State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal said Tuesday that the state law requiring 10 years' "active practice" as a lawyer before running for attorney general is constitutional, and that it takes more than merely being licensed as a lawyer to be considered as actively practicing law.

  • It's about jobs, jobs, jobs

  • Rob Simmons for Congress?

  • I can't wait for people to learn more about the latest Republican gubernatorial candidate who has misled the residents of Danbury over the years every time he's opened his mouth.

  • I'm still trying to gather my thoughts regarding the closing of Connecticut Local Politics (lets just say that I'm very upset over the whole matter). I'll post my thoughts on the closing of one of the most influential blogs in the state later today.

What else is happening?

Time to stop giving money to the Democratic National Committee (4.00 / 1)
The DNC paid $500,000 to run an ad for Ben Nelson in which he slams "government run" health care (public option) -- and after Nelson helped torpedo health care reform.

FDL and DailyKos both have much more on this. It's important to know where your DNC donations are going. And my donations won't be going to the DNC any more.

If you want to contact the DNC, here's the link.

I stopped giving money to the DCCC for the same reason. It won't make a dent in any of their fundraising efforts -- they're getting plenty of cash from PhARMA, Goldman Sachs, Aetna, etc. But I now give only to candidates that I support, and there's not many of those nowadays either.

Heartbreaking...

Bysiewicz says she is going to run anyway (0.00 / 0)
and is heartened by this opinion.

If you would like to walk yourself through the thinking behind AG Blumenthal's opinion, here is the link:

Could you two please explain to the MLN community just what it is about this subject that inspires you to consistently work against it? (BTW, thanks Scarce, for the "1" this time instead of trying to hide it with a "0")

The reason I have put the video here is because of the news today that Simmons made a statement critical of the possibility of having the KSM trial somewhere here in Connecticut instead of in NYC as originally planned. In the unlikely event that the trial really occurred here, I predict that we will see a whole lot more protesting around the truth of 9/11, and wonder if that's the real reason for the change of venue... It would be practically impossible to hide from the media's lens, and millions more will be exposed to the many huge questions about what really happened.

Now That's Arrogant (0.00 / 0)
But my request still stands, Scarce, what's your problem with this subject, for there a more and more people every day that have the same questions and concerns as I do. C'mon Scarce, indulge the MLN community with your reasoning.

Almost A Day Later (0.00 / 0)
Still no explanation.

Folks, this is one of the reasons that it's so important to get all this out in the open. Those of us that have been paying attention and have huge questions also have a mountain of facts to back us up. Defenders of the official myth have got nothing... All they can do is more ad-hominum attacks.

America and the world deserves the truth, and a court of law is the proper place for it. Here in Connecticut would be fine, although the excuses for not having it in NYC are silly.

here's a tip (0.00 / 0)
If the reason you're posting a comment has something to do with a topic in the thread, it helps to make that point in the comment. Then, people will know you're not hijacking a thread or anything.

Additionally, if you have "mountains of facts" to back up your points, it helps to post them -- at least some of them -- and to include links. Dropping in provocative videos for no apparent rhyme or reason doesn't help your cause.

Thanks For the Tip (0.00 / 0)
.
I guess I'm remiss by assuming that the readers here are already aware of the fact that whenever I post information in Comments that allude to the idea that the "official" narrative of 9/11 (as espoused by the mainstream media that is most Americans' pirmary source of news and information) simply cannot be true, several MLN users immediately exploit the ratings system to try to hide said information. Always the same offenders, it makes me wonder what interest do they have in keeping this information out of the public eye? Like clockwork, these same gatekeepers appear.

Now, this time, I waited for an "Open Thread" Diary to comment on the Simmons news release, and why his motive for doing it is questionable. I've since learned that it's not just him, it's a talking point for them. I'm sorry that I did not explain that and just added the Sunjata address. It's about the Ballot Initiative from last fall to give the residents of New York City the chance to vote whether they wanted a real, impartial investigation into the 9/11 disaster that gathered over 80,000 signatures and was then summarily struck down by a single judge.

As to the "mountains of facts," here's a good link for folks to follow:

http://911truth.org/article.ph...

At this link there are "the top 40 reasons" to question the story we've all been told. It's not unreasonably long and you can get through it quickly. I'd like to see the users that tell me to "get help" and assiduously downrate my comments to pick apart any of them if they can.

Thanks again, CaptCT, that was good of you to bring this up. Folks, log in to see DANIEL SUNJATA.

Always the same offenders, it makes me wonder what interest do they have in keeping this information out of the public eye? Like clockwork, these same gatekeepers appear.

Dragooning MLN commentors into the conspiracy doesn't make it sound more credible, I must say.

Plus, the vast majority of posters see all the "hidden" comments anyway.

My sense is that the troll-rating is a move to preserve access to elected officials so they'll post on the site -- even people like me who are fine with the questioning and research that "9/11 truth" people advocate aren't exactly excited to have it pop up in the middle of other conversations. I certainly don't think that some State Rep who stops by to discuss policy issues needs to be answering questions from their local paper about their views on LIHOP vs MIHOP.

As you point out, there are lots of forums where a 9/11 conspiracy is a central topic of debate, but the whole subject is totally detached from everything that we discuss on MLN. I don't see the benefit in bringing it up all the time, and I sort of wish you'd knock it off even if I'm not going to go berserk about it.
