CT Republicans Embrace "Birther" Conspiracy Theories (And Call For Dodd's Suicide)

by: tparty

Tue Aug 04, 2009 at 11:13:37 AM EDT

This is a photo taken outside of yesterday's health care event in Hartford, presumably of a vehicle belonging to one of the right-wing protesters who assembled there to yell at and then refuse the chance to talk with Sen. Dodd:

Dump Dodd

According to a recent Research 2000/Daily Kos poll, an astounding 58% of Republicans nationally either don't believe President Obama was born in the United States of America, or are not sure he was born in the United States of America.

And it certainly looks like Connecticut Republican activists - Dump Dodd and the tea partiers - also fall in line with their party's increasingly rabid, fringe, unstable, conspiracy-minded base. (This, despite the fact that a full 93% of Northeasterners believe Obama was born in the United States according to the same poll.)

These are the same people planning to disrupt town hall meetings across the state and nation in the month of August.

Update: ConnecticutMan1 just posted some disgusting video from yesterday's protest where one Republican "Dump Dodd" activist appears to loudly suggest that Sen. Dodd (who last week announced he has been diagnosed with early stage prostate cancer) commit suicide:

"How come we don't just give Chris Dodd painkillers? Like a handful of them at a time! He can wash it down with Ted Kennedy's whiskey...!"

Republicans = Lunatic Fringe (0.00 / 0)
..is not an equation I thought I'd ever see in the Northeast but that is where things look to be going, or now are. Remarkable really.

After eight years of Shrub, the fringe will say anything to try and make Obama seem worse that the worst Resident ever.

But no matter what they say or do they still have to say "President Obama."

Birth rights? (0.00 / 0)

Personally, I don't care if Obama was born on the second moon of Jupiter.  If he can make America a country I'm proud to live in, then he deserves his presidency.

Not to mention... (0.00 / 0)
...that all those "birthers" lined up to vote for a guy who was born in PANAMA, which wasn't then or even NOW is a state! For some reason, to them PANAMA is more American than our fiftieth state!

Eventually some video should show up here: (4.00 / 2)
Still has to process after uploading at YouTube:

When I got to the healthcare event yesterday, these "Dump Dodd" nuts were out there screeching about communism and socialism. Never mind that they were essentially calling Medicare, the VA and the military's Tricare "Communist and Socialist"...

But it appears they are now advocating FOR suicide

Sorry. I couldn't wait around long enough for them to spout the communist stuff again. But many were there for this healthcare event and heard these fringe nuts and can corroborate that fact.

the new face of the Republican party in Connecticut (4.00 / 2)
is the racist, right-wing fringe -- tools of the private health insurance lobby, secretive billionaire commodity speculators and the shadow banking system.

Insane people (0.00 / 0)
These "birthers" just don't get it. Obama was born in Hawaii and has a real birth cerificate. These nuts insist his real birth certificate a fake.. like Hawaii has "fake" birth certificates, get a clue.

The best one is Alan Keyes produced this phony one (see link below) and expect us to believe that yeah that is the real authentic original. Who knows who cares, even if Obama was born in Kenya he is still our President just about everybody voted for him now support him.

Someone needs to pass an anti-birth certificate bill or something. Why are his personal records anyones business.

Look at what these insane people are writing!

Teabagger meeting Monday night in Mystic (0.00 / 0)
There is an article in today's New London Day about Daria Novak, who wants to challenge Joe Courtney for Congress.  It mentions that she is attending a teabagger meeting on Monday, August 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Mystic at the Mystic Fire House: http://theday.com/re.aspx?re=0...
These people need to have a light shone on them.  I can't attend, but someone should go with a video camera.   Film these people, figure out who they are, argue with them.  Perhaps we should be as disruptive of them as they are of Democrats.

nah (0.00 / 0)
Might be interesting to go and see what they're up to, but you're never going to be a more obnoxious asshole than the median teabagger. Plus, I'd be concerned for your safety!

Shine a light - yes; argue with them - no (0.00 / 0)
Good idea to video tape the teabaggers so that everyone can see how full of hate and spite they are.  But, I wouldn't try arguing with them because you cannot argue with irrational people.  As to being as disruptive as they are, I don't think we need to sink to their level.
